Well, it's Thursday...aka PseudoFriday. Yay for 3 day weekends. I'd be
more yay, but my brain is kinda meh. Want to go back home and go back to
bed. Or read a book. But, 7 hours and I go home, and get my copy of
Age of Conan. Then tonight, install, patch, and pray it works :) Then I
should be going across Hyboria decapitating people left and right ;)
Had a good night last night, hung around with
Amythest. Worked on my new mini-
project. Let me explain, you remember those radio plays I go on about,
from The HPL Historical Society ?
Well, they come with 'props', faux newspaper clippings and maps and pictures
related to the play. So I have these little oddities filed away. A few
weeks ago I had a bright idea of making a scrapbook to display them.
Well, last night me and Amythest got working on it, and it turned out really
good. Creative and artistic friends are always a good thing. I'll be
posting pictures of it once I figure out how to transfer pics from my camera
;)
Still no definite plans for the 4th. 5th is seeing Wall-E. Oh and sleeping,
I see alot of sleeping this weekend. I need it. Probably some camera
experimenting and game playing too. Mostly though, vegging. Wish me luck.

Well, another day, another shoggoth. At work, mostly sane here. Slept
less than great, insomnia decided to say howdy. Woke up, remembered rent
was due last night...so I had a nice flurry of activity this morning,
throwing clothes on, writing a check and racing to the office. Came home,
got ready for work. Yog is running fine, so it seems I fixed the issue o
bluescreening *knocks on wood*
The new monitor has me wanting to add a pair of flatpanels to
Shub-Internet. Some nice
24" flat panels would be nice, and even vaguely affordable. Well, maybe
by my spawning day ;) But everything looks so crisp on the new monitor.
Thus, savings accords are bled dry ;)
Not much else going on. Guess I should get back to the Shoggoth Pit. Wee.

Got Yog-Software (my gaming box) home from chraptor today.
Met up with him and pyrene for dinner, then snagged box. Ran
home, hooked it up, booted. All well. My new monitor looks wonderful.
Had some issues with software installs, found the evil nvidia firewall
that got installed, removed what was causing the download foo. Then the
computer started blue screening. Gave up, went to play with ferrets.
Came back out, and the geek came out in me. So I did some googling, and
found a known issue with Nvidia software that's installed and XP SP3.
Removed software, cleaned up the registry and now we see. *crosses fingers*
Hopefully that will fix the blue screen foo.
In other news, I decided I'll be eating ramen for the next week and some,
and ordered Age of Conan from Amazon. I should have it Thursday, so
Thursday night I'll be adventuring in the lands of Hyboria. Assuming I can
make it work. If not, I'll wait til I can do the video card and memory
upgrades next paycheck. But I think it will work. I have faith. By
Crom ;)
Ok, I need to get to bed. Night all.

Well, today has been much less frantic than yesterday. Car is inspected,
lit up and now waiting on registration tag from the state gov't. Yay for
this time of year, when car foo comes to the forefront. Oh well, at least
I had the funds. Didn't do much of merit last night, laundry and finally
made dinner that didn't involve a microwave. Woo me. Of course, it was
Hamburger Helper, so it didn't require much more work than the microwave...
but still, it's cooking of a sort. Played with ferrets, saw Whiskey
deside that he, like his sister can fly. He lept from the bed to a stand
alone fan I have I have by the bed. He didn't get close, but boy did he
get some height on his leap. He's also turning into one portly ferret.
When I got him he was skinny and you could feel his ribs. Well, no longer.
He's a nicely plump feezel now. Nyx and Arwen had fun too, but no real
amusing stories from last night. Oh, wait...Nyx did decide she wanted
the Pringles I was snacking on, no matter what I did to discourage her. So
no more snacking for me, and Pringles out of ferret range.
Today has been decent, work was busy this morning with tons of DNS changes
for one guy. Not much else. Going by chraptor and
pyrene's place tonight to pick up my gamer box. Run home,
hook it up, start playing software setup. Avoid temptation to go out and
buy Age of Conan on the way home. ;) Wee. Should be good.
Ooh, the camera I ordered from Woot, plus an Amazon order should be delivered
today. Ugg, now the decision...do I go home and get packages from office,
then drive back to North Dallas to get computer, or do I wait on packages
til tomorrow and go direct to Chez chraptor from work. Ugg,
decisions, decisions. *tries to make up mind* *fails*
edit: Ok, after talking to chraptor and pyrene, we decided to grab some dinner and hang out a bit, so I'm going to go to ... whereever we decide to go eat tonight. So I'll grab my packages from the office tomorrow instead. Spread out the new shiney things over two days instead of one.

Home is where the books are. And friends. And ferrets. ;) Actually, really...home for me is New York. I haven't lived there in over 20 years, but it's still my home. That goofy village of Valley Stream. Taking the train into the city to visit the museums. Half a dozen good pizza places in walking distance of home, and delis with real bagels. I miss real seasons, leaves changing colors in September, Jones Beach in the summer and the bite of cool air on my birthday. That's my 'home'. And yes, there are things I don't miss about New York. Prices, temperature inversions and garbage men on strike, over-the-top accents, the fact that everything is busy-busy-busy. But, in my memories, the good things win out over the bad. So there. ;) But, most everyone I care about is here in Texas...so I'm stuck here. I don't mind it all that often, besides the weather, the lack of good bagels, and the occasional desire to jackslap the goofballs who also live around here. So I'll deal with the State of Insanity Texas. Maybe someday I'll even get used to the summers... Nah... Current Mood: contemplative Current Music: Yngwie Malmsteen - Fire
